Here it is – TOP 10 of the best smiles from Cannes Film Festival 2008. It was very hard competition with cries and tears, grins and hysterical laughing. But I was trying to find something sincere and honest. Can you be sure of artist's frankness? Now way! We just can observe they do this.

Here we go! This modest and quiet guy who's looking at you is the living history of the world football. He's unbelievable football player named DIEGO MARADONA. Should I tell you how he was writing sport legends by his own legs? I don't think so.

This happy company is including (from the left to the right) forever beautiful JULIA ORMOND (actress; movies: Legends of the Fall, Inland Empire by David Lynch, First Knight, I Know Who Killed Me and etc.), JENNYFER LYNCH (director, 'Surveillance' and 'Boxing Helena') and BILL PULLMAN (actor, movies: 'Sleepless in Seattle', 'Lost Highway' by David Lynch, Alien Autopsy, Spaceballs by Mel Brooks, Independence Day and maaaany other films). This trio is very friendly to each other and everyone else. They are so kind and open-minded that I can't compare it.

Also in the competition is… DENNIS HOPPER (actor; movies: 'The Palermo Shooting', 'Elegy', Red Rock West, Land of the Dead, House of 9 and never-ending filmography). And this is his affable smile style for acquaintances. It's easy-tempered and complete.

These two laughing guys are JEAN-PIERRE and LUC DARDENNE (Belgian directors; movies: 'The Silence of Lorna', 'The Child', 'The Son'). You can't find out this from their movies but they really like to smile.

Next one is JEAN RENO (actor; movies: 'The Tiger and the Snow' by Roberto Benigni, 'The Da Vinci Code', Leon (the Professional) by Luc Besson, Godzilla, as a frog at Flushed Away and… you know). He looks like funny guy! Meet him and his cunning and cheerful smile.

There is WALTER SALLES (director; movies: 'Linha de Passe', 'Paris, je t'aime', 'The Motorcycle Diaries' and etc.) with the wide Brazilian smile for everyone and sad eyes for himself.

And the winners are…

Bronze medalist is MADONNA (singer, director, producer, actress of the films Four Rooms by Robert Rodriguez, Allison Anders, Alexandre Rockwell, Quentin Tarantino; The Next Best Thing). There is her light smile and the funniest smile of Nathan Rissman – director of the documentary film 'I Am Because We Are' which was written by Madonna. Congratulations!

Silver medalist is BENICIO DEL TORO (actor; movies: 'Che', one of the my most favorite films is Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas by Terry Gilliam, another good and clever movie is The Usual Suspects,  dirty stories from Sin City by Robert Rodriguez, Quentin Tarantino, Frank Miller; The Hunted by William Friedkin…). He's totally charming. He's so unreal charming that I can't explain it. He's not perfect, not beautiful in common value, not a Casanova from movies (crasy Dr. Gonzo, ha-ha), but he has this magic charm from deep inside. It's typical for Latin America – hot quiet charm. And this is the serene smile of the winner.

And the winner of the winners is… this amazing work couple – JENNYFER LYNCH and BILL PULLMAN. Hurray! Should I comment this choice? Not really. It's not a photocall, it isn't poses. It's a life.

She's nice.

P.S.: I have one surprise for this happy end moment. There is the special prize called "certain regard" and I gave it with confidence to LUCY LIU (actress; movies: Charlie's Angels, Shanghai Noon, Kill Bill: Vol.1 by Quentin Tarantino) and JACK BLACK (voice of the Ice Age, lol). No comments.

They didn't  do something "bad". It's just a moment of live broadcast. LoL. It's not my fault. I blame my photo camera.
